Gymnastics for All - International Event Opportunities
The World Gymnaestrada is an incredible and unique international event for Gymnastics for All teams from around the world. Organised under the auspices of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), the World Gymnaestrada is held every 4 years and attracts around 20,000 participants of all ages and abilities from over 50 countries.
The World Gymnaestrada is a non-competitive display event for teams of 10 or more participants. A range of performance opportunities is provided to teams as well as the chance to mix with gymnastic enthusiasts from around the world.
The event program is held over seven days and includes:
- Opening Ceremony
- Group Performances
- Large Group Performances
- National Afternoon and Evening Presentations
- FIG Gala
- City Performances
- Closing Ceremony
Australia has been represented at the World Gymnaestrada since 1987 and most recently at the 15th World Gymnaestrada in Helsinki, Finland in 2015. The FIG You Tube channel gives you access to watch numerous performances from the 2011 and 2015 World Gymnaestradas.
The Gymnastics Australia YouTube channel features video stories of the 2015 Australian World Gymnaestrada team.
In order to participate in a World Gymnaestrada, teams from affiliated clubs need to have more than 10 active participants and have gained sanction at an Australian display event.
The 16th World Gymnaestrada will be held in Dornbirn, Austria, 7 - 13 July 2019. Additional information can be found on the website www.wg2019.at/wg2019/en
3rd FIG World Gym For Life Challenge
- 26 to 30 July 2017, Vestfold, Norway
Preparations for the 2017 World Gym for Life Challenge have begun in Norway. You can download the three newsletters below and find out more at the event specific website. The accommodation for all participants is on-site in self-contained cottages and apartments, right next to the performance venue. With its own beach at the end of a fjord, the setting could not be better!
Australian teams wishing to participate must gain sanction in the four years prior to the international event. Regulations for the FIG event can be downloaded here.
