Emily Whitehead

Emily Whitehead is one of Australia’s brightest young talents – a quick look at her achievements shows why.

A member of the Victorian team which won five consecutive teams’ gold medals at the Australian Gymnastics Championship, Whitehead has proved to be ultra-consistent in individual apparatus at the Championships, finishing in the top five on 18 occasions since 2011.

The 2015 Championships proved to be her best yet on a national level, where she finished on the podium in all five individual apparatus events – winning the All-Around title, while also claiming gold on the Bars and the Floor.

Whitehead’s form is also good on the International circuit. In the 2014 Pacific Rim Championships – one of only three that Whitehead has contested so far – she finished a very credible 10th on the Bars and Beam, and eighth on the Floor.

Emily was selected to represent Australia at the 2016 Pacific Rim Championships and Olympic Test Event but unfortunately was unable to compete after injury in training at the Pacific Rim Championships. She is looking forward to making her come back at the Australian Gymnastics Championships and the 2017 World Championships later this year. Whitehead has made a great start to the year already by winning 2nd overall on Bars at the L'International Gymnix Senior International Cup Compeition in Canada.
