Emily Whitehead

Emily Whitehead is one of Australia’s brightest young talents – a quick look at her Junior results and developing international form show us as much.

A member of the Victorian team that has won five consecutive teams’ Gold medals at the Australian Gymnastics Championship, Whitehead has proved to be ultra-consistent in individual apparatus at the Championships, finishing in the top five on 18 occasions since 2011.

The 2015 Championships proved to be her best yet at national level, as she finished on the podium in all five Individual Apparatus events – winning the All-Around Junior International title, also claiming Gold on Uneven Bars and the Floor.

Emily was selected to represent Australia at the 2016 Pacific Rim Championships and Olympic Test Event but unfortunately was unable to compete after injury in training at the Pacific Rim Championships.

Bouncing back from that injury, Whitehead’s international form is strengthening, with her best recent results including a 10th All-Around at the 2017 L'International Gymnix, Senior International Cup in Canada, and a Silver medal on Vault at the 2018 Melbourne World Cup.

Her talent and hard-work has been closely monitored by Gymnastics Australia, and reward for her development came when she was selected for the 2018 Commonwealth Games team.
