Men's Team Future Camp stars in training
Thirty-seven Men's Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) athletes and 14 coaches recently participated in a Team Future Camp at the National Centre of Excellence in Canberra, a unique opportunity for the best up-and-coming male gymnasts in Australia.
Master Coaches John Curtin, Sergei Chinkar, Vlad Vatkin and Igor Bespalov worked with coaches and athletes to consolidate a clear technical direction for MAG in Australia.
Alongside the technical training there were a number of education activities for coaches and athletes. The purpose being to ensure that at the end of the camp both coaches and athletes are better prepared to improve at every training session they have.
Physical profile testing was conducted throughout the camp with the winners being:
- U16 Winner – Hudson Irwin – Horsham/Victorian HPC
- U14 Winner – David Tanner – Super Performance Centre
- U12 Winner – Jesse Moore – Gym-JETS/Seymour College Gymnastics
- Overall Winner – Jesse Moore
Records were also achieved by Jesse Moore, Hudson Irwin, Travis Williams (Gym-JETS), Joshua Swanepoel (Gladstone Gymnastics /GQHPC), Joshua Walker (Dolphin Gymnastics Club), Jack Harvey (Victorian HPC), and Adam Rusgnach (South Coast Gymnastics Academy).
Thanks go to the coaches of the National Centre of Excellence, who worked at the Team Future camp between the sessions they were running with their athletes, and also Sean Wilson, who coordinated the technical component of the camp.
