Podium finishes for Aussies at L’International Gymnix

The Australian Women’s Artistic Gymnastics team has continued their stellar start to 2017, walking away with four medals from the prestigious L’International Gymnix event held in Montreal, Canada.

Australian entered a team in the Senior International Cup competition (consisting of Emily Whitehead – fresh off competing at the AT&T American Cup in Newark, USA - Erin Modaro, Jade Vella-Wright and Shannon Neate) as well as two individuals; Rianna Mizzen, who also competed in the Senior International Cup, and Talia Folino, who represented both Australia as well as her club Waverley Gymnastics Centre in the Gymnix Challenge event.

Australia finished fourth in the Senior International team event, with Rianna (9th All-Around), Emily (10th All-Around), Erin (11th All-Around) and Jade (13th All-Around) all putting in consistent performances.

Meanwhile in the Gymnix Challenge event, Talia wowed the crowd with a string of solid routines.  Her dynamic Vault saw it awarded one of the highest scores of the day, whilst she hit her Bars routine, connecting her full toe to ½ shap.  A total All-Around score 52.567 saw Talia top the podium and the crowned the Gymnix Challenge All-Around Champion for 2017!

Day two of competition for the Aussies in Montreal saw several of the Aussies advance to finals.  In the Senior International Cup Emily, Jade and Erin, all progressed through to the Bars final, whilst Rianna represented Australia on Beam, and was also joined by Emily to contest the Floor final.  In the Gymnix Challenge, Talia progressed to both the Bars and Beam finals.

At the conclusion of the final day of competition the Aussies walked away with a further three medals to add to their tally - a Silver for Emily on Bars (13.000) and a Bronze for Rianna on Beam (13.200) in the Senior International Cup, whilst Talia also took home a Bronze on Beam (12.725) in the Gymnix Challenge.
