Austria Future Cup wrap

The future of Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) in Australia is indeed bright, based on the results achieved by our Junior MAG Team at the Austria Future Cup in Linz over the weekend.

In an incredibly strong field, the team of James Hardy (QLD), Kipp Smith (VIC), David Tanner (QLD) and Benjamin Foster (NSW) finished 7th in the team competition, with an overall score of 216.850.

The field was then split into three different age divisions for the individual results.

The highlight for Australia in the individual competition was James Hardy placing third All-Around in Age Group III (for athletes born between 2003 and 2006).  Hardy scored a total All-Around score of 73.250; a remarkable achievement in a field of 57 athletes.  Hardy also scored 12.650 on Vault to place third on this apparatus.

In the Age Group II competition (for athletes born in 2001 and 2002), Victorian Kipp Smith topped the rankings for the Aussies, finishing 11th All-Around with a score of 71.700.  Australian team reserve, Brayden Martin, finished 19th in the same Age Group, with a score of 69.700, whilst David Tanner was 21st (69.250), and Benjamin Foster was 22nd (68.600).
