Gymnastics Australia and SportsLink Travel have signed a multi-year partnership and travel services agreement which will not only see the sports-specialist travel company manage GA’s travel needs, but also provide travel and accommodation packages for gymnastics clubs, teams, families and supporters for competition and leisure travel.

SportsLink will become the Official Travel Provider for Gymnastics Australia and GA Tours as well as a Major Partner of the National Clubs Gymnastics Carnival held annually on the Gold Coast.

GA was drawn to SportsLink due to the company’s extensive experience dealing with National Sporting Organisations and its history of successfully managing large groups of athletes, teams and supporters travelling internationally.

“Everyone at GA is very excited to be working with SportsLink Travel and I am very pleased to welcome Paul, Frank and the whole team to the Gymnastics in Australia community,” said GA CEO, Kitty Chiller.

“Travel and sport go hand-in-hand, but the nature of High Performance travel is very specific and subject to a range of factors when it comes to athlete well-being and preparation, so knowing what travelling teams need is very important.

“Similarly, late changes due to injury or competition schedule changes are a regular occurrence, so having the support of a 24/7 service, with sports specialists managing the situation is very important and that is what we get by partnering with SportsLink Travel.”

A bonus for all GA members, their families and friends will be access to flights, accommodation and travel packages for domestic competition travel, overseas club tours as well as supporter tour and leisure travel packages via an online GA travel portal.

“The creation of a gymnastics community travel portal will allow us to offer supporter tours for families and gymnastics fans wanting to head to major international events such as World Championships and World Cups,” Ms Chiller added.

“Members and their families will also be able to get great deals for their own leisure travel through the site as well, so we are hoping that SportsLink Travel becomes the place they go for their travel needs.”

SportsLink Travel will provide a range of features that are aimed at helping families support travelling gymnasts such as no deposit bookings and payment plans, plus access to discounted rates of all aspects of travel.

“SportsLink Travel is super excited to work with Gymnastics Australia,” said Frank Scerri, Chief Executive Officer of SportsLink Travel.

“With the Tokyo Olympics next year and the growth of the National Clubs Carnival, it is a great time to get involved with gymnastics.

“We can’t wait to extend our service to clubs and gymnasts heading to events, plus all the families and supporters travelling to support these athletes.”

GA and SportsLink Travel will launch the new gymnastics community travel portal by the start of 2020.
