Aspire - Career Assistance for Elite Athletes

The Olympic Athlete Career Program is an initiative created by the Australian Olympic Committee in partnership with the Adecco Group Australia. It strives to support Olympic athletes in maintaining an appropriate life balance and to make the transition from sport to the workplace. The Adecco Group can offer the following support services to assist Olympic athletes with their career transition:

  • career training
  • job placement
  • associated follow-up services

Olympic athlete eligibility
In order to be eligible for the Olympic Athlete Career Program, athletes must be officially recognised by the Australian Olympic Committee as an Olympic athlete. An Olympic athlete is an individual who:

  • Has been selected for the 2012 Olympic Team;
  • Is in contention for selection to the 2012 Olympic Team (known as the “Olympic Shadow Team”);
  • Was a member of the 2010 Olympic Winter Team; or
  • Was a member of the 2008 Olympic Team

Athlete career and education
Athletes interested in the Olympic Athlete Career Program need to first contact the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) Athlete Career and Education (ACE) Program. The ACE Program plays a vital role in helping VIS athletes face the challenge of balancing Success in Sport and Life. A VIS ACE representative will make an appointment to have an initial career discussion to prepare your referral to the Adecco Group.
