Quality
education and training, which is at the same time enjoyable, non-threatening
and accessible to all, is vital if we are to ensure the professional
development of effective Gymnastic Coaches, Judges and Administrators
with observable competencies across Australia. This can be achieved
in two ways:
-
by the adoption of formal course syllabus, manuals and course
materials, for both Participants and Presenters, supporting a
"competency" based approach
- through
a high standard of Course delivery by enthusiastic, knowledgeable
and competent Course Presenters.
These
two areas of development have been a major focus of Gymnastics Australia's
partnership with State Associations. Gymnastics now has a number
of Courses Accredited Nationally by either the Australian Coaching
Council (Sport Education Section) and/or the National Training Board,
all having their own formal course syllabus, manuals and course
materials. This Policy details the training process and Accreditation
requirements for Presenters of any Nationally Accredited Gymnastic
Course, regardless of their area of interest (ie: Coaching, Administration,
and Officiating).
The
task of a Course Presenter is quite varied requiring many unique
skills as well as effective use of skills that we use within our
everyday life, such as our ability to communicate when interacting
with people on a daily basis. Through a standardised and equitable
Training Scheme not only would Presenters be provided the opportunity
to refine and/or gain the necessary skills but also a defined Career
Pathway and Recognition Scheme can be offered.
It is envisaged that through the adoption of this Policy the sport
of Gymnastics will be able to offer Nationally Accredited Courses
in a Professional manner, meeting the specific needs of customers
through flexible delivery utilising the latest teaching techniques
and resources.
We wish well all those who undertake training as Course Presenters
for the sport of Gymnastics.
