ASSET
PROTECT - ARE YOUR CLUB'S ASSETS APPROPRIATELY INSURED?
Gymnastics Australia in conjunction with its Member Associations
have worked with the sport's insurance broker (JLT Sport) to arrange
a great new service to affiliated gymnastics clubs called Asset
Protect.
In
summary, Asset Protect allows affiliated clubs to receive a quote
on costs to insure their club based assets (ie gymnastics equipment,
plant and machinery,etc).
As the Asset Protect program is being rolled out to all clubs/associations
that form part of JLT Sport's current sport clients (ie - AFL, Cricket
Australia, Netball Australia), it means that great premium savings
can be made as a large volume of clubs are increasing the insurance
buying power.
Gymnastics Australia strongly encourages all clubs to view the Asset
protect web site and further investigate this free service. In fact,
Gymnastics Australia put its own general property insurance to the
Asset Protect test and was pleasantly suprised with a $2000 premium
saving.

Note: The on-line quote facility is presently
not available.
Alternatively
you can call JLT Sport directly on 1300 655 684.
IMPORTANT
INFORMATION FOR ALL COACHES AND CLUBS
EXTENSION OF THE CURRENT GENERAL LIABILITY POLICY
GA
is pleased to advise, that Sportscover (our insurer of General Liability)
have agreed to include coaches (both past and present) within the
definition of "who is insured".
"Gymnastics Australia Limited including all State Associations
and Clubs, affiliated directly or indirectly with Gymnastics Australia
Limited, registered members, non-participating officials including
coaches (past and present), judges, voluntary workers including
co-opted voluntary workers, club committee members, office bearers,
medical officers and prospective members for up to four weeks after
initial approach and, where applicable, guest gymnasts."
Further
the definition of the Insured of Professional Indemnity is amended
to read as:
"A
qualified person acting as a coach (past and present)/judge/official
but only whilst acting in the scope of their duties in such capacity.
Qualified shall mean that person has appropriate qualifications
or registration or accreditation or authorisation from the Insured
body."
For
those of you who are unfamiliar with this issue or the implications,
this will extend cover to those Technical Members who cease coaching/judging
and have a claim brought against years later when they are no longer
a Technical Member.
This is a very big win for the sport as the inclusion comes at no
extra premium cost.
MEN'S
ARTISTIC - MAG ATHLETE STARS IN BILLY ELLIOT - THE MUSICAL
Gymnastics Australia has been advised that Rhys Kosakowski (NSW
MAG Athlete - Hunter Sports Centre) was selected as one of only
4 young boys to take on the lead role in this hit musical and was
selected to perform on the opening night. A fantastic result for
this very talented athlete/performer.
As a result of this great achievement, Rhys has had to leave gymnastics
to work full-time as part of the musical. Rhys is a MAG Level 6
athlete.
Gymnastics Australia would like to congratulate Rhys, his coach
(Rohan Kennedy) and club (Hunter Sports Centre) and looks forward
to his continued development within his new found role.
