GA LAUNCHES "AUS CHEER" BRAND TO CHEERLEADING COMMUNITY
In an effort to further promote cheerleading and embrace the culture of the sport, Gymnastics Australia (GA) today announced "AUS Cheer" as its fresh and exciting new brand to deliver cheerleading activities in Australia.

As the founding member of the Australian Cheerleading Union, AUS Cheer supports the International Cheerleading Union's mission to advance the sport of cheerleading, especially for the young athletes who participate.

AUS Cheer will deliver a range of activities for cheerleading enthusiasts, including Australia's premier "Nations Cup" event series, coach and judge education, workshops and camps.

At a national meeting of GA's Member Associations held in Brisbane last Friday, State Executive Directors were briefed on this new initiative and have been invited to deliver AUS Cheer events in their States in 2009 and beyond.

AUS Cheer Program Manager, Nerine Cooper said "Since 2001, cheerleading has grown rapidly under the direction of Gymnastics Australia. This is an exciting opportunity for Member Associations to take the sport to a new level and provide the ultimate experience for athletes."

The official launch of AUS Cheer will be held in Sydney at the Australian Cheerleading Championships in October.
