EXCITING NEW RESOURCE RELEASED - GYMNASTICS AUSTRALIA'S CORE STABILITY CD-ROM
The Core Stability CD-ROM is a great new resource for coaches, containing hundreds of ideas for training athletes of all levels to develop effective core stability. GA's sport science and medicine committee have put together images and exercise descriptions for MAG and WAG athletes on one easy to use CD so that you can print out exercise cards or posters for your gym.

Progressions range from basic to advanced levels and there is a great overview of core stability and injury prevention.

There is very good scientific evidence to show that improving core stability will reduce back injury, promote effective technique and posture and enhance performance. Consider spending 10 minutes each day working on stability with your athletes and see the difference it can make.

The Core Stability CD-ROM is available for immediate sale from the GA Gymshop for $33 (including GST) and postage and handling.

CLUB DEVELOPMENT GRANT SCHEME OPEN FOR 2008
The Club Development Grant Scheme, released in early 2008, represents a real opportunity for Clubs seeking funding to get their new ideas off the ground. Grants of between $1000 and $7000 are invaluable to Clubs seeking to implement change within their operations or to attempt new initiatives with the support of the seeding Grant.

Gymnastics Australia encourages Clubs to be innovative, inventive and imaginative in bringing forward applications to the Club Grant Scheme. New ideas that set your Club apart or provide a model for the gymnastics community broadly are warmly welcomed.

The Grant Scheme is easy to access, with Clubs only required to have achieved Star 2 to be eligible in the Organisational Development Category where three x $1,000.00 Grants are available. Clubs who have achieved Star 4 or Star 5, are eligible under the Special Initiatives Category for either a $3,000.00 or $7,000.00 Grant. The Grant Scheme is an important initiative that represents a $13,000.00 annual investment in grassroots gymnastics and provides support for Club innovation.

Two initiatives that represent good examples of new ideas that received funding last year are:
• A regional General Gym 'mini-Congress'; &
• Development of a Welcome Pack for new Club Members.

GENERAL GYMNASTICS - CIRQUE DE GYMNASTIQUE A SELL OUT SENSATION
By the time the first session started - all tickets were sold. The temperature had peaked to 39 degrees but the show must go on.

The 3pm show was a rehearsal and the show required a few 'tweeks" and we were off for another 3 shows - 5pm, 6.30pm, 8pm. There seemed to be no break from one show to the next - the crowds excitement just kept building with each show until the finale and then it was all over.

Gymnastics SA took a huge leap forward on the weekend and there is no turning back, now that the performance excitement has been instilled in the coaches and the gymnasts.

All gymsports were represented in the show and blend of circus and gymnastics was once again a winner.
