KINGBOROUGH STAR 5 ASSESSMENT - POSITIVE OUTCOME
Kingborough Sports Centre Gymnastics has become only the fourth Club in Australia to receive the
much vaunted Star 5 rating in the recently restructured Club 10 Quality Assurance Program.

Assessed last week for their nomination under the category of Strategic and Financial Planning,
the Club's successful presentation detailed the securing of in excess of $2 million to establish
a State Gymnastics and Early Learning Centre in Hobart, the venue will become the new home of
the Kingborough Club and "service the development of Gymsports within the State and ... current
and future needs of Kingborough Sports Centre Gymnastics."

The assessment panel including Helen Langenberg, Manager of Sport & Recreation Tasmania, and Brad Spunner, Head Coach-Manager at Maffra Gymnastics Club and National Course Presenter, were impressed with the process the Club had undertaken and the preparation that had the Club able to capitalise on opportunities as they arose.

Key factors included:
• Understanding the importance of the process AND the person (relationship building)
• Utilising an experienced and influential Steering Group
• Preparation and demonstration of an understanding of their business.

Congratulations again to Mark, Anke, Gary and all the team at Kingborough Sports Centre.

2009 CLUB 10 NATIONAL FORUM
Gymnastics Australia is excited to give advanced notice of the 2009 Club 10 National Forum.

Planned for the first half of 2009, GA will host Clubs from all over Australia during April-May. This Forum is typically a reward to Clubs who achieve Star 4 and Star 5 and will continue to address items raised in March, 2007 such as the USA Club Congress Professional Development Tour lead by Gymnastics Australia in June this year, which offered professional development and networking opportunities for Tour delegates.

The Club 10 National Forum is a significant biennial event in which Gymnastics Australia hopes to provide advances on recent strategic planning, contribute to the development of professional networks for gymnastics Clubs, both for owners & Coaches-Judges and establish new levels of rewards in the Club 10 Program.

GA TO LAUNCH A NEW SERVICE IN 2009 - COACH/JUDGE REGISTER
In 2009 Gymnastics Australia will be launching a new benefit for affiliated Clubs and Technical Members. The Coach-Judge Register will be available online, similar to the Club Search function, and will provide basic contact details for those Coaches and Judges who have indicated their interest in being included.

The Coach-Judge Register will provide affiliated Clubs with the opportunity to source Coaches and Judges for short term backfill, during busy event time or for permanent replacement. The Club can simply utilise the Coach-Judge Register Search function, available from the Gymnastics Australia website, select the discipline, radius of search and (potentially) hours required. The Search will scour the national database for all Coaches and Judges who have nominated themselves to be included on the Register and who meet the relevant Club criteria. The search results will be available to Clubs for a nominal fee, only after confirmation of potential matches.

GA is seeking expressions of interest, provided on 2009 Technical Membership Renewal Forms, for participation in this Register. To be launched in 2009, GA will confirm your participation prior to making any details available on the Coach-Judge Register Search.

A Coach or Judge who is available, and interested, to do more officiating outside their current Club, can nominate participation on the Register through their Technical Membership Renewal Form. Simply by checking the Opt In box and the relevant contact method, details are added to the Coaches and Judges' record on the Register for display on the Search. Participation is confirmed by signing the Member Declaration.

GA is currently developing an alternative Club Register, which will be available to Coaches seeking to finalise their accreditation and require a Club to host and supervise their post-course hours.
