Gymnastics Australia Statement regarding increased Federal Government restrictions
Following the announcement by the Prime Minster (19 March, 2020) to place further restrictions on non-essential indoor gatherings of more than 100 people, GA is working through the ramifications this will have on our clubs and association members.
We understand the concern this restriction will have for many in our community. It is important to remember that maintaining regular physical activity during times of uncertainty is important for our own mental health and wellbeing. We recommend you continue with your regular activity, where safe and appropriate.
GA encourages our gymnastics clubs to consider their specific circumstances and determine the appropriate action at this point in time, based on the advice provided to them by their local State / Territory association or by us.
GA has been working closely with our association members to ensure clubs have been provided accurate and timely updates from relevant government organisations, public health units and the World Health Organisation
These updates have provided clubs with detailed information that is relevant to both the sporting and the wider community and which reinforce the strict hygiene and preventive methods required.
We acknowledge that as we navigate our way through this evolving situation, everyone will have their own view on what is right and make decisions that are best for them and their family.
GA’s Chief Medical Officer and our Athlete Wellbeing & Engagement Manager have put together a resource to help you and your family manage your health and wellbeing. You can view this resource here
