Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games wrap up

With the Closing Ceremony at the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games now complete, we look back at the most successful Youth Olympic Games Australian gymnastics has experienced to date.

Australia qualified four athletes to compete in Argentina across three Olympic Gymsports.  In total the Australian Gymnastics Team made five finals and came away with three medals – a Gold, a Silver and a Bronze!

Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG)

Oceania Continental Representative – Kate Sayer (AUS)

Multi-Discipline Team Event:
Kate was a member of ‘Team Marchenko’, which placed 10th with 430 points.

All-Around: 9th (49.392)
Vault: =7th (13.200)
Uneven Bars: 10th (12.200)
Beam: 14th (11.766)
Floor: =7th (12.566)

All-Around: 8th (49.299)

Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG)

Oceania Continental Representative – Lidiia Iakovleva (AUS)

Multi-Discipline Team Event:
Lidiia was a member of ‘Team Chusovitina’ which took out the BRONZE MEDAL with a score of 381.

All-Around: 23rd (51.600)
Hoop: =21st (12.950)
Ball: 22nd (13.200)
Clubs: 22nd (13.550)
Ribbon: 24th (11.900)

Trampoline Gymnastics (TRP)

Oceania Continental Representative (Male) – Liam Christie (AUS)

Multi-Discipline Team Event:
Liam was a member of ‘Team Biles’ which won the GOLD MEDAL with a score of 293.

Oceania Continental Representative (Female) – Jessica Pickering (AUS)

Multi-Discipline Team Event:
Jess was a member ‘Team Yang’ that placed 7th with a score of 403.
