Gymnastics Australia welcomes new President
Gymnastics Australia (GA) has today welcomed Ben Heap into the role of President of the GA Board, following the end of Sam McKay’s term.
Having joined the Gymnastics Australia Board in 2018 as an elected Director, Ben Heap brings significant corporate and sporting experience to the role.
Currently a non-executive director of several public and private companies and a member of the Commonwealth Government’s Fintech Advisory Group, Ben is also a ‘gym dad’ with two daughters having participated in gymnastics for over a decade.
Ben recognises the significant challenges gymnastics clubs have faced this year. “I want to applaud our club owners for the determination and resilience they have shown during these difficult times.
“The Board and I remain committed to supporting our clubs as they continue to navigate their way through these challenging times.”
Russell D’Costa will step into the role of Vice-President. Russell, a former gymnast, was previously the President of Gymnastics South Australia before joining the GA Board as an elected Director in 2019.
On behalf of everyone at GA, we would like to recognise outgoing President Sam McKay and thank him for all that he has done for the sport since joining the Board four years ago.
